I have several extracurriculars, but none of them are sports. However, I am in my h.s.'s orchestra and stage crew, which designs the sets for our spring musical and fall play. Would it hurt my admissions chances if i didn't have any athletic extracurriculars for at least 2 out of the 4 years? My counselor told me that they showed more commitment than sports do, but i want to be certain.

I am wondering how much sports matter for admission. Unless I am a D-1 athlete or I am getting recruited, do sports matter?

Not much unless you’re recruited.

How about state tennis champion but not recruited? Spending 3 hours everyday and very focused. Does it matter?
