Hey,

I just wanted to ask if its easier to get in to UT in general if I apply to a major like Judistic Studies instead of Liberal Arts? (eventually to go to business)

I applied undecided for COLA and got in.

One should note one actually has to be accepted to the university before you are accepted to the college. This means that you have to meet the basic requirements that everyone must meet before you actually get admitted into a college. So for instance just because someone picks an obscure major, that won’t guarantee them admittance over someone who has a higher class ranking are better test scores.

However, I don’t necessarily think your intuition is wrong if your scores are comparable with someone who wants to major in government which is a degree many students request. Admission may accept you based on that fact, if they are in fact looking to fill that major. but that is a big guess.

McCombs is a competitive school, even if you are a student at the university, you frankly will still be competing for a slot against the same people who also didn’t originally get accepted in the business school. You have to also consider the fact that if you get accepted into one major, you may be restricted from taking courses in another major, and this is especially true if the majors are in a different college. Therefore it might be better that have a major in economics, or government, but if it is not one’s major, it will be significantly harder to get into the courses.
