Admissions chances at IU, Purdue, University of Cincinnati, and Ball State

What do you think are my admission chances at these colleges? Applying to 6 colleges (2 safeties and 4 match/reach) Early Action. Not concerned about my two safeties, but these other four have me thinking about daily lol: IU Bloomington, Purdue University, University of Cincinnati, and Ball State. IU is definitely my #1 choice and my dream school. I plan on double-majoring in Interior Design and Entrepreneurial Business. Here are my stats and a little about me:

From Indiana (so in-state for IU, Purdue, and Ball State), straight white female

Unweighted GPA: 3.16
(terrible I know, but I had a terrible freshman year academically as well as two family deaths in 6 months which I told in my essay. However, I have had a pretty steep upward trend ever since then and in junior year I got all A’s except one solid B and one high B)

SAT/ACT scores: SAT - 1220 / ACT - 26

Courses in high school: my high school does not offer ANY AP/honors classes. I was however on the College Preparatory Track as opposed to the normal track, and our curriculum was very intense and college-prep (also accounting for the lower GPA).

Extracurriculars:
-Varsity soccer for 5 years; captain junior and senior years, Defender of the Year, made the All-Star team for State tournament, this year’s awards TBD, but will find out in 2 weeks at our banquet.
-Choir for 5 years; in both honors ensembles by 10th grade, in the highest levels of sight-singing and theory, on the Student Council junior and senior years, sung the title solo for our Christmas concert (in addition to other duets/trios/etc.), gave multiple speeches and featured/dramatic readings. Also received some minor awards.
-Big sister/mentor/tutor for a younger dyslexic girl
-Babysit a lot

Recommendation letters expected to be very good (one from my head coach and one from my choir’s executive director)

Would really appreciate your thoughts and advice for me, thank you so much!

I can really only speak to IU on this one.

You’ll get into IU (the school itself that is). However, both of your programs have direct admission programs with requirements that, frankly, you aren’t anywhere near making. Though Kelley, for example, allows you to petition, I don’t think your extenuating circumstances will make up for your poor freshman year performance + lower test scores.

Additionally, you want to pursue two majors that are in separate schools, each with vastly different freshman/sophomore prerequisites. Though kids with lots of AP credits choose this path at IU every year, it will be virtually impossible for you to complete all the classes you need to get done in 4 or even 5 years. Not to mention your workload - it will be hell on earth. Unfortunately, you simply aren’t coming in with the head start that others have.

If you are dead set on getting a double major, you’ll likely have to choose two in the same school at IU. Otherwise, I recommend picking your favorite between Interior Design and Entrepreneurship.

Here is what your college career would look like course-wise with Entrepreneurship:

And here for Interior Design:

Kelley and CoAS are very different schools. Make sure you do your research.

Right. On my application I only put Interior Design as my major. Entrepreneurship is still an interest but now that could definitely just be a minor. Also, I totally neglected to say this, but I do have 2 college credits that will transfer (not alot at all but something), and I plan on taking some online college classes my second semester. All in all I will have about 7 or 8 ish college credits by the time I graduate high school.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and advice!
