Admissions Decision

I would like to pose a question for pondering and answering:

In your personal opinion, what is the most important thing in terms of admission? (i.e. interviews, grades, SSAT scores, legacy, etc.) You may only pick one thing.

Judging by what I have heard... which admittedly is not much!...

I would think that the most important 'MAIN' thing would be grades/G.P.A, but I would have to say that the most important thing which would push you over the line would be your Essay's.

I really don't think there is one factor that is more important than the others. prepparent bumped the "Rate the Following" discussion, so you might want to look through that. I suppose you can say grades, but grades are also a factor of how academically challenging your school is, grade inflation and how difficult the courses you take are.

I know that there really isn't one thing that trumps all; I'm just wondering what people's opinions are.

Interview, how could a school get to know what kind of person you are without meeting you? being articulate in your interview coudl really help balance you as an applicant
