I just spoke with a lady in admissions and she indicated that they are in the process of mailing out decisions. They started mailing on Monday and will continue to be mailed through at least the end of this week--maybe into next week so check your mail!

Any idea on how they decide the order to mail them out? Are rejections mailed out at the same time as acceptances?

I did not ask those questions.

I think students accepted into Honors may have been notified first. My son and 2 others in his school received their notification early this week. All 3 were admitted to Honors with $$.

Well I guess thats encouraging. I haven't heard but I didnt apply or expect honors. My stats are 1120 (610M/510V), good ECs and rec and 3.5 GPA, but all As with one B this year and I'm taking Calc and Honors Anatomy. Think I have a shot?

If I were on the committee I would sure take you.

thanks!!! I have heard that UDel is getting more and more competitive. I wish you were an adcom at BU and Northeastern too!!!

I hope I get mine soon!

Congrats to all who've gotten in!

I think the acceptances are mailed first.

Huskywanabie: Did you get in at U. of D?

I didn't hear yet. It's not lookin' too good. :-(

huskywannabe: Please let us know when you get a firm response.
My daughter has the exact same SAT's and GPA and really wants
to go to the U of D.

My son yesterday received his notice in the mail that he has been waitlisted at Delaware. Frankly this is very painful to write because it was probably his first choice. stats are 1241 (best two scores) SAT 1, unweighted cum 3.35, weighted cum 3.91, two varsity sports for three years, over 400 hours of community service, great recs, attended Delaware all-day event, went to local reception, good essay, usual mix of AP's and honors. Top-rated public high school. We are out of state and two his friends have been accepted RD but heard much earlier so maybe it is true that the later you hear, the less chance you have. Neither of these two other kids from the high school will be going to Delaware. The waitlist letter cited that last year admission was offered to 106 students out of 1,271 kids. The letter also stated that this year the University received over 21,300 applications for a freshman class of 3,300 students. Last year my recolletion was that they took about 200 more students than that number so it seems they overaccepted and probably are cutting back on acceptances this year. That is the sad news for those who are interested.

I didn't get in - got my letter yesterday. It wasn't my first choice, but it definitely was an option. Relaxwolf, my SATs are no where near what your son's were (mine were 1120), but I have a tough schedule (Calc, Honors Anatomy) with A's, and a 4 year Varsity award, lots of ECs and what I assumed would have been great recommendations. I know people with lower SATs than mine that were admitted or waitlisted. I guess we'll never really understand.

I guess we will not ever know. Best of luck to you with your other schools! The good news is you can get a great education in this country at almost all schools.

What other schools are your son considering?

My daughter received a letter yesterday informing her that she too was waitlisted. Her stats are SAT-1150 and a 91 unweighted average with 4 AP's and numerous Honor classes. She also was involved with various school clubs in addition to doing community service and working part-time.
She is trying to appeal and just hopes that she gets admitted off the waitlist. No rhyme or reason to the admission process.

I didn't hear yet, I'm assuming rejected.

But honestly I don't care, looking back I don't even like Delaware. Sure, it's a nice campus, but it's not a good school. For the difficulty of admissions, it sure isn't worth it. A Rutgers degree looks better than a Delaware degree, and it's half the money and half the trouble. (I won't be going to Rutgers either, though). Delaware sounds like a big waste of time to me, I just applied to have a bigger range of applications

My Pet Muffin -

Did you get into Rutgers College? Where else are you accepted? I'm not too disappointed about UDEL either, but its always nice to be told they want you!

Yes, I did get into Rutgers College, but I will be attending the University of Pittsburgh over Rutgers. Most importantly, if I get into Texas, that's where I'll be going.
