No problem. Us moms need to stick together to figure out what’s going on.
Has anyone already received the go ahead to sign up for orientation? I noticed our major dates are when we will be out of country. Hoping DD can join another date and meet with advisor then. When visiting in Feb, I mentioned to dept. advisor (small dept) when she said July and made it seem like no big deal to miss it. I feel bad though having her miss the whole orientation and would like to attend another, maybe in her intended double major. We paid deposit in early January. Thanks!
@ballet13 going to a later orientation delays when your child will get to schedule classes, as you schedule at orientation. If your child has to take a common pre-req class, your child runs the risk of getting waitlisted in certain classes, getting a class at a less preferable time, and running into scheduling conflicts.
Alright I really don’t want to be a debbie downer or toxic, but I think this discussion is kind of getting derailed guys. This thread is for admission Decisions, if you have further questions after being admitted, there are facebook pages waiting for you. It’s important to keep this thread on the track that it was originally supposed to keep.
how does the final decision come? if I my child was deferred will she hear by mail, email or just keep checking website?
First comes the update on the portal, and then the email, then physical mail
Has anyone received their housing contract yet?
Does anyone know when the next round of admissions for students deferred from early action will come out? I’m becoming very anxious. Please respond if you know, thank you!!
They do release decisions on Friday evenings, so let’s wait for them.
@Trollair No housing contract yet. My son was admitted just prior to Thanksgiving. Expecting it by the end of March. Hopefully we will get final Scholars decision by then.
I’ve been extremely disappointed in the lack of communication with Ohio State. My son applied ED and was deferred and we’ve heard nothing back from them - not even one email. We heard from other schools that he only applied to RD. At this point we’ve both lost interest in OSU.
@karen4474 I agree completely. I have heard from 5 other schools and have heard NOTHING from OSU. Really frustrating. Not even considering it now.
yikes, you guys don’t need to be so salty about not hearing anything from osu yet (unless you applied ea and werent’ deferred). plenty of schools haven’t released rd decisions yet!
and besides, if you guys look at the thread from last year’s applicants, it wasn’t unusual for people to be waiting for so long. people were still getting acceptance in late march.
i don’t know why you guys are making such a big deal about this. decisions will come. don’t worry.
Does anyone know and please let us know If Someone is accepted in CAE college of art and science, is it easy to change major to college of engineering at OSU? Thanks!!
@oscarmom1 if you recently got admitted, call Admissions and see about getting your major changed. They usually can switch your major since you actually haven’t scheduled any classes yet, but since Engineering has special requirements, I’m not sure if they’ll evaluate you before the major change or just not do it. I’m pretty sure at the least you’ll be put into Science Exploration, which in no way will hold you back from Engineering since everyone is a pre-major anyways. You need to do this before orientation so you’ll be with the appropriate adviser to schedule your classes. Then, just complete the pre-req classes (which are the same classes pre-majors are taking) and apply for whichever Engineering major you want.
@JBuck7 thank you so much!
@Faultystart when you pay a $60 application fee, you expect a certain degree of communication and speed in processing your application…
@kramerismynamer first of all, there are plenty of colleges with more expensive fees that haven’t released decisions yet. a TON of schools still haven’t released results (it’s still early march?); for example, i still haven’t heard back from the vast majority of my schools (8/9ths of them)
i think complaining that this “long” wait for college decisions and having the wait for decisions affect your interest in a college is ??? weird? and complaining about it online is very childish and immature
i’d rather wait a while for a good, thorough review of my application than get a decision that was made very quickly that may not be the same as one made after a thorough review of my application. i want to know that a school thinks i truly belong there.
speak for yourself buddy
If you have questions, you can call OSU admissions, or send a polite email and inquire. Everyone I have talked to was happy to speak with me and tried to answer all my questions. They might just be able to tell you when is the latest you’ll hear back, and in what manner you will hear, but then at least you’ll know. Waiting is really hard when your future is riding on that decision, but with thousands of applications, letters or recommendations, and essays to read, you’ve got to admit that it is a LOT of information to work through, and figure out who are their best applicants. Unfortunately there are only so many spots available in the freshman class. Good luck!
