Admissions Dept confirms Letters will begin being sent on March 24th

Called just a moment ago to check on status of financial aid docs as it does not show up as being received. Admissions confirmed they are backlogged in processing all the documents that have come in. She then volunteered "you know admissions decisions letters are being mailed March 24th" and the decision will be posted online 3 days after the letter mails. So 6 more days - Good luck and Sit tight!

ooooooooooo can’t they post decisions online 3 days BEFORE sending out letters??? I’m thrilled. :)

@jsmom,

thanks for letting us know!!

yeah i wonder why they just cant post it online.
i think on their website they say that its because of all the paperwork its hard to. but they end up posting it online anyways. whatever.

Thanks for the update!

Thanks JSmom

That is a comfort…
It’s 6 days until they mail…but then with the US Post Office…you have 1-3+ days for continental US mail.
You will see it online the following Monday.

I agree- it would be so nice if they just hit a button and everyone could see it online at the same time.

If CMU is your choice-- mail / fax back your deposit as soon as you hear to get in line for housing…remember, date of deposit secures the order in which housing preferences are filled.
If you need to negotiate fin aid or are awaiting an April 1 decision from one of CMU’s competitors…sit tight…it will all work out.

if they mail it on the 24th, how long would it take to reach CA ??

6 more days to count down.

@gashergina

They usually use Priority Mail. I would say 3 days.

how many days would it take to get to Canada?

Wow. Some of the people on this forum really need to calm down a bit. Your admission is out of your hands at this point…stop worrying. CMU is my top choice too, but honestly, for most of us a rejection means saving tens of thousands of dollars/year anyway. Life will go on whether you get in next week, the week after, or not at all. Patience, people.

This isn’t necessarily aimed at anyone in particular in this thread; though I’m sure almost everyone on this forum could benefit from being a little more patient.

@ JNE23,

It’s just a way for some people to relieve their anxiety and some people, including myself, are just impatient. Just ignore posts that bother you. It will save you time.

I originally posted this since there was someone claiming he got an admissions decision this week. That poster appears to have been a ■■■■■. I agree admissions decisions are out of your hands at this point. But I know my son impatiently awaits the mail everyday and will be even more anxious when it gets closer to actual decision dates. SO thinking of all of you in the same boat as my son I was hoping to squash the rumor that decisions are released. And yes, life will go on no matter what the decision is. Again good luck to all of you awaiting decisions.

Ugh I’m so nervous! Especially since Carnegie Mellon was my top choice. I wonder how long it would take for letters to reach New Jersey…

The letters go out tomorrow. Cannot wait to finally have an answer from them. It has been a long process.

Great to hear. I hope fin aid comes with it, especially if the online system shows they have everything.

Hope everyone hear sth good tomorrow!

Decisions could be online today at 12AM EST?

No. March 27th.

…why would they ever post anything online at 12 A.M.?

that’s what they did for the past two years
