Any thoughts on Stanford's admissions director who used to work for yale?

I have heard that more emphasis will be placed on grades/scores and less on essays/ecs.

Some info: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=91967

does this present an advantage to east coast students?

i mean, my school sends a large number of kids to yale, brown, princeton, harvard, etc each year, but much fewer to stanford bc of fewer apps and a much harsher reject rate.

so this yale move might be sort of excellent...then again, maybe im just projecting hope...

yea, i thought about it from that perspective as well. But I feel that the situation is unpredictable

i sure hope intl finaid becomes need blind

That would be sweet. Are there many intl applying to Stanford?

yeah quite a bit. not that many applying for aid though, I think. Shaw said that need blind intl aid is "on the agenda". how long do u reckon itll take before implementation? Good luck with ur app, by the way.

I doubt it'll be anytime soon but they are losing groud especially to the top Ives who do have need-blind for int's.

I wonder what fraction of the aid goes to int'l at top colleges usually..

I don't think most colleges publish that sort of info. I could be wrong ...
