Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

The last 2 years the waves have been once a month.

@collegemom9 yes so either the 14th or the 15th of this month

@cllge2019 yes sorry, misread your comment. They are typically on Fridays. I would expect 12/14.

I see a lot of engineering applicants got their decision in the first round, but I also applied for engineering and am still waiting for my decision. Any other engineering applicants still waiting???

Supposedly that means they have just not gotten to you application yet.

@hannah1789 me too. I’m sure I’m at the very last of the pile, as my status still shows up as “Applicant” :frowning:

@hannah1789 lots of engineering applicants haven’t heard back yet. As @cheesie said, it supposedly is not a bad sign at all, they just haven’t gotten to it.

@DocJake your status stays “applicant” until the minute it changes to “admitted”

@collegemom9 really? I thought it went from Applicant to “In Process” or something right? I remember because my status went back to Applicant from whatever comes next. So still waiting to get off ground.

@DocJake not sure what the difference is, but I know most people have “evaluation”, myself included.

Yeah, it was Evaluation. Hoping to see that back on soon.

@hannah1789 My son also applied engineering on 10/31 but application didn’t show complete until 11/5. His still shows evaluation.

@DocJake sorry, I was wrong. It was “evaluation” not “applicant”

Good luck guys! I really hope I hear my decision next week, the anxiety is killing me. I also applied engineering. OSU does not admit by major. Also-half the engineering majors drop out the first year anyway due to how hard Engineering is and people not wanting to put the work into it. I wouldn’t worry about how many people were admitted as engineering majors—they expect a lot of people not to stay in it, anyway.

With that said, since OSU has an amazing engineering program, there are probably a lot of people who intend to major in engineering who have top stats. They say they don’t look at intended major, but it might be obvious by what activities a student is involved in. Either way, OSU wants to build a diverse class, so keep that in mind. And OSU is HUGE; I bet they admit a TON of intended engineering majors.

It really means that had not gotten to it by mid November

For those wondering. They select the students who’s information they release at random. Just cause you didn’t hear back last time doesn’t mean anything good or bad. Just simply means they didn’t get to you. Getting a response or their lack of has no affect on your decision. Hang in there guys. Im in the same boat. Hoping for a response next Friday!

@Mombean I hate to wait now. I am so excited+very nervous about OSU. I hope I get in on December 15th, and good luck to all of you who are still waiting.

For anyone still wondering, the portal should say “evaluation” and then will change to “admitted” “deferred” or “denied” on 12/14 if you get a decision. That’s how it worked for us who heard 11/16. If it says applicant I think that means they had to reprocess your application.

@DocJake can you click on where it says applicant for a further description? If I click on evaluation it gives more information and says-Your application is complete and is in the process of being evaluated. Yours might give you some more insight into why it just says applicant. If not you should probably call the admissions office and make sure everything is as it should be.

Are there any minute chances of the decision being reIeased today?
