Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

They’re starting to post - my son was deferred. In state. ACT 30, WGPA 4.1. UGPA 3.7, NHS, Varsity sport, lots of volunteering - bummed.

I received a weird email to my buckeye mail account yesterday and I think it is spam/ might have a virus. I am wondering if anyone else got an email like this.

@WOHmom2019 I’m sorry. ): What did the email say @buckeyegirl23?

Deferred
27 ACT
3.88 UW GPA
3/46 in class
2 sisters attend
NHS, Student Council President, 4-H President, 4-year varsity sport, and many others

Does anyone know if timing on decisions is different for OOS? So in-state goes first today?

Thanks. No email yet. It was posted on OSU portal.

Daughter deferred, just received status.

deferred

I’m out of state (MI) and was deferred at 3:30

deferred
Out of state
Gpa:3.8
Act 27
Lots of activities/leadership/Job
Visited the school

Super bummed. Been following this page for a while and was waiting forever to hear back:( Ohio is my top choice

Sounds like a big batch of deferrals

Deferred
Instate
26 ACT
4.29 GPA
NHS, 4-year varsity sport (track), 3 years of soccer, many clubs + extracurriculars, LOTS of volunteer hours, lots of leadership roles
visited campus

some think they’re deferring a bunch of people because they had way more applications this year and not enough time to fully look at them, and as a result, they’re going to look at them again. Could just be a rumor!

Remember that the deffered status is not bad news, just not any news. Hang in there, good things will happen

Okay, got my decision today after 3 months of waiting so

Deferred
26 ACT
3.89 unweighted
In-state
Some extracurriculars and activities like speech and debate, Italian club, etc.
Father alum (not sure it matters though)
I’m assuming they didn’t have enough time to evaluate everyone, at least I hope that’s what it is. I hope I’m accepted later on!

Based on last year thread, it appears that the first waves were rejections for the international students and the deferrals for EA.

son just got accepted 4.1WGPA, 29 ACT, biology for pre-med - he had application in August 1, so 6 months of waiting

My friend talked to the admissions office and they told her that they deferred her because they did not get a chance to read her application yet. I think this is the case for a lot of people that have been deferred and it seems like a lot of people will be deferred today since they ran out of time.

accepted!
instate
29 act
3.83 gpa
lots of work experience, varsity sports, academic awards
22 ap, honors, and dual enrollment!

dont get discouraged, not everyone is getting deffered!!!

@buckeyegirl23 Don’t do anything. That is a scam. OSU students were talking about it on Reddit.
