I have applied to Stony Brook University through EOP since I was not too sure about my grades. The admissions office said that I am academically qualified, but I must submit the documents to see if I am financially qualified. If they said that I am academically qualified, does this mean I would have definitely been rejected from regular admissions? My SAT score is 1230 and my average is 97, rank 26 out of the 860 students in my senior class. My friend who has an sat score of 1250 and an average of 97 got in through regular admissions. Do the 20 points make such a difference when it comes to EOP? Weirdly enough, Binghamton Uni said I do not qualify for EOP academically.
@iagok. I am in the same exact boat as you!!!
With those stats I think you would have just gotten in through regular admissions…
Should I call the admissions office and ask if I could be considered for regular admissions even though I chose eop? And even though in the email it said I am academically qualified for eop?
@iagok if you call let me know what they say because I was thinking of doing the same.
the wait is killing me…my S applied back in Oct and we are still waiting…got accepted in UMD, SUNY Buffalo, UMASS and Delaware…but he likes SB but at this point, we are leaning towards Buffalo…really too long of a wait. Maybe it’s a red flag… but let’s see…3 more weeks until april 1st anyway…just letting out some steam
@dad1023 what is your sons stats
The admissions officer said that if you applied through eop and they deemed you academically fit then that means you would have been rejected through regular admissions
@undecided12233, i know computer science is a competitive major in SB…but he was accepted in the above universities so our hopes are a little bit on the high side…but if not, buffalo is the second choice.
SAT: 1230
GPA: 97
good EC plus essay
course: computer science
@dad1023 I have the same sat score and slightly lower gpa. I’m still waiting on a decision from SBU. A lot of people I talked to that also have a 1230 still haven’t heard anything back yet from SBU, I wonder why
