If I want to go into Pre-Med at UT Austin, do I apply to the College of Natural Sciences? What should I do
Here is a link off the UT website: https://cns.utexas.edu/images/CNS/Health_Professions/DIY_guides/UT_AUSTIN_HPO_PRE_MED_GUIDE_Update_Edits_1_10_18_KL__SG_1.pdf
I don’t think they offer an actual PreMed undergrade, but I do believe most students start in the CNS. You don’t have to. It’s whatever you like and what will offer the bast path to a good MSAT grade. So, Psychology majors are in COLA, prior to MSATs and Med school. I think I once saw a music major get into Med School.
Consider this…Harold Varmus, the former director of the National Cancer Institute and Nobel Prize winner in Medicine, graduated from Amherst with a BA in English Literature. Study whatever interests you. If majoring in a degree outside of CNS consider a Pre-Health Professions Certificate to at least prepare for the MCAT.
