Hi!
I wanted to share my story for those of you waiting to hear back from admission. I applied to UW last year for autumn 2016 and the whole process was a nightmare. I was still taking language classes to fulfill my requirement after applying, which is okay as long as you get those requirements out of the way before starting at UW the quarter you’re applying to. I forgot to mention on my application that I was taking classes to fulfill my requirements so I had to call and email them to add that to my application since I have already submitted it. They told me they had added that to my profile and I was all set. I was suppose to hear back late June or by the end of July for the decision.
I received my rejection letter in May. I was devastated but confused at to why it was so early. I had nothing else to lose, so I called the admissions office to set up a phone appointment to talk about my rejection. During the phone appointment the advisor realized they have never put in that i was still taking language classes and that was the reason why I received my rejection letter, because i did not fulfill admission requirements. They have everything on record that I have emailed them about this issue and it was the same advisor that previously told me she would add this to my profile that was on the phone with me. She said she remembered my email. She apologized, and put my application back further review.
Now i’m at UW, but if I had never called to ask why, I wouldn’t be here. In conclusion, reach out to the admissions office with any concerns you have! because they’re not perfect over there and will make mistakes on your hard working application. Thanks for reading the longest post ever.
