Anyone heard an admissions decision yet? Ds applied mid-September and think school transcript packet sent 2 weeks ago.

we were there Sunday - Admission is going to start reviewing admission applications this week - and the kids should hear something in about 2 weeks

I applied beginning of October and I just received a letter yesterday acknowledging they received my application and everything. Im looking for a decision sometime this month,

ds received deferral letter last weekend. They want any updated test scores and first semester grades. Today he interviewed with admissions counselor at his school to show midterm grades (much better than his overall average GPA) and discuss his continued interest in admission.

Just got my acceptance stuff today! (yay) Very excited, I was also offered around 15k in scholarship money too. Gotta a big decision comin my way this spring.

Congrats to all those accepted and good luck to those waiting.

S got his admissions letter with a nice merit scholarship on the Nov 15th. Yeah!

Son received acceptance letter today with 15 K annual scholarship. I’m not sure if he’ll end up there, but we’re glad to have another school to choose from (admitted to Pitt a few weeks ago).

DD received an acceptance letter this week and was offered $15K. A little low based on what other schools have offered.

what were your stats?

DD has taken many AP and IB classes. Has a 4.0 unweighted GPA. National Merit Scholar (official in Feb), 33 ACT, 2230 SAT, 4 year varsity swimming and lot’s of other extra curriculars. Xavier and Dayton seem to spread their money across a wide range of students where we have found several schools willing to offer full rides for these stats. Not really comlaining. Xavier has other scholarships and I am hopeful they will come through. Anyone have any advice on how to get the maximum scholarship from Xavier (or Dayton)?

Son got the 15K as well, but Santa Clara is his first choice. He’s waiting to hear from them first to make his decision. Micawber, with those stats, your daughter ought to get a nice award package somewhere. My oldest son applied to a couple of Jesuits in 2008 and schools kept upping their awards. He received letters (Creighton in particular) a month or two after the inital acceptance letter stating something along the line of “Congratulations, we’ve found additional money to award you…”

Best of luck to everyone!

mica…you’re daughter is a national merit finalist…and they are only offering her 15K? that’s kind of ridic. I’m sure she can get more money to better schools like you have mentioned. congrats to her!

I know some of my friends who are sophomore and freshmen in college whose parents have called the school and said how they got more money somewhere else…would they be willing to give them a better scholarship. I don’t know of anything specific to Dayton or Xavier. With your daughters stats you should be able to get somewhere with this tactic.

I got in today! 9K scholarship.

micawber - I assume your DD applied for the other, larger, scholarships at Xavier? They had a separate form.

DD just received an invite to Xavier to participate in the Saint Francis Xavier Scholarship competition. I think there are 10 full scholarships available.

Hmmm…I wonder if they notify the applicants who are NOT invited? DS hasn’t received anything. He didn’t really expect to qualify, since he is not NMF, but we had him apply anyways.

Good luck to your DD micawber!

My daughter was accepted today (applied 2 or 3 weeks ago) and got a 13k scholarship. Now I wish she had filled out extra scholarship application. Does anyone know if she could apply for those after she’s already been admitted?

The deadline for some of the scholarships at X has passed. DD received a letter and an invitation to interview on campus in February for additional merit aid.

Tabor, I would not sweat this. S got a $15K scholarship offer, applied for the scholarship competition, and was rejected. We just got an email regarding other possible scholarship opportunities (music, etc.) but it doesn’t look like anything he would qualify for. Perhaps your D will find something among those?

Ds accepted with $15K Deans Award after deferral last fall…he is very excited!

congrats ddd928!
