is columbia like penn where ur regional officer is basically in charge of your app and plays a large role in making your final decision? how do you get in touch with yours?

yeah, columbia is like that. It might have a list on the website somewhere. I've met mine a few times so that's how I got her contact info. Ask your counselor, they should have some info.

I hope the admissions officer wasn't the guy who visited my school. He was, well, an absolute jerk. He acted like he was above all of us, refusing to give out information unless we asked specific questions. A friend of mine said his uncle worked with the lawns (he's on some doner comittee or something) and the guy responded my asking if his uncle was a janitor! I've never met a more mean spirited college representative in my life. In fact I'm sure he convinced a lot of people NOT to apply.

Lol...jaina thats true! This guy who came, was the most unimpressive guy ever! like, he looked like a jerk to me, not someone coming from CU atleast! and his questions really made him seem like a snotty bastard.

Usually your regional admissions officer is the one that visits your school. There are exceptions to this, of course.

but that dude was like..when "I" see ur application...blah blah...so he might be the one!

Yeah; admissions officers are assigned to certain regions. My officer's awesome :-D

Where and how can we find out how to get a hold of ours? I'm resending a part of my app. I guess I should give them a heads up, though I don't think it would be much of a problem.

arsalan, where are you from (I mean like general region). Was your guy kind of tall with dark hair (I know, not very descriptive).

lol....no jaina, he was short, had an ear-ring, spike type hair....cudnt tell what nationality he was, but he was sorta the filipino type of a guy...but anyway..really weird!

omg, maybe columbia just has really unfriendly admissions officers. cuz the guy who visited my school was the coldest person i'd ever met. now i'm scared to apply because he didn't seem very friendly at all and i don't know if that just means he hates me or he just hates his job or something. lol.

Jessica Marinaccio was the visitor to my school. She was incredibly nice. Hmmm

shes the Director of Admissions jono!!....how did she visit ur scool? is it like one of da best in CT?

I've met Jessica Marinaccio. She doesn't seem very nice.

How do you find out who the representative is? No one visits my crappy school.

Yeah, she visited my school. I don't know why. It might have been that the person who is supposed to visit my school couldn't be there. I definitely talked to Jessica Marinaccio about Columbia-Juilliard, and I filled out a card and gave it to her. My counselor talked about someone named Laura who called my school after admissions decisions had been made, so maybe Laura is supposed to visit our school. But Jessica def. came. She was serious and friendly at the same time. She was really happy to see enthusiasm about Columbia, but she didn't make Columbia seem all fuzzy and easy or anything. Somebody asked about jazz at Columbia, and then I asked about Columbia-Juilliard, and then she kind of laughed and joked about how into music we all seemed to be. I think she's a nicer admissions officer than the ones you guys got. As for my finaid advisor (everyone gets one), that's a different story.
