Admissions - PPSP applicants

When does CWRU start admitting PPSP applicants - not talking about PPSP itself, but about admission to the school? We know we have to wait until March to hear if selected for an interview to PPSP.

I too am interested in knowing the answer to this question, do we get it the same time everyone else does that applied regular?

anyone accepted yet?/know when we find out?

I’m curious too. When I interviewed in November, my interviewer said that everyone who had their applications in by the PPSP deadline, December 1, should hear by late January or early February, but it doesn’t seem like anyone has been informed of an acceptance or rejection.

My interviewer told me that PPSP people get their decision March 1st. I think I also saw that somewhere on the website, so it should be here this week or next week. Good luck!

We have one student from the class of 2007 and another from 2008 who got their admission decisions with scholarship info in Feb. Then came the decision regarding PPSP in March. Interview and final decision were toward end of March or beg of April.

Their website also says that admission decision is independent of PPSP.

Greatful: Were 2007/8 notifications by phone/email/regular mail? Because, we live far away from Case, and snail mail would be nerve-racking…
Dante: Good to know that 1 Mar 2009 is the deadline for notification!

Case reps didn’t visit my son’s area, and he wanted to ask about notification, but emails at Case are apparently backed up, says his representative over email.

For what it’s worth, an email my son (and probably to you as well) received from Case concerning PPSP said that during the week of 2 Mar 2009, all admitted PPSP applicants will be notified by U.S. mail […] about whether or not they have been named a finalist (who is to be interviewed on campus at a later date).

BTW, which PPSP did you apply for (med, law, social, dent); my son went for medicine.

(note: if this is a double post, I’m sorry; my computer is being glitchy today!)

for those of you PSPP’ers waiting…

Case Application Status Check
Application Status Check is unavailable as we prepare to release PPSP admission decisions. Please check back shortly.

:)

Oh my goodness…my son phoned me to tell me that…

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE :)

undergraduate admissions are up! yayy

so March is for PPSP?

Wait, your undergraduate admission is up? My son’s is still displaying the “check back later” message…!

our status hasn’t changed either… answers just up for PPSP candidates???

PPSP decision is not yet out. My son is in. Scholarship info will come in the letter - they don’t put that on the status page. This is what the status says,

“Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to Case Western Reserve University for the Fall 2009 semester! You should be proud of this significant achievement, for you have been selected from an extremely talented pool of applicants. Please look for your official welcome packet arriving shortly via US Mail.”

I’m sorry…I’m a little confused.
Greatful: Did your son apply for PPSP? If so, how did he find out so soon (Internet, email, US mail, etc), because my son tried to apply EA and PPSP, but could not, according to the Case staff. Online status check says to “check back soon” currently.

BTW: Congrats to your son :)

My son applied for PPSP - Medicine. We logged into application status check and the status changed only today. We asked about applying EA to PPSP but that is not allowed. So my son applied around 11/20. No email or mail. Just status check -

Then I called my friend whose students from 2007 and 2008 are at Case. She said we will hear about admission through mail - that will have scholarship info. Towards end of March, PPSP decision is made. The ones who get invited for interview get it in Fedex. Decision on PPSP admission was made in April.

ah, I see.

Grateful- I also got the same message =]
So scholarship info should be arriving next week-ish? Does it include the scholarships they’re offering us or applications for potential scholarships? And when can we begin the FA application? Cause right now I’ve only done the fafsa and css for case, and the case website said that students must be admitted to receive the pin for the other FA apps.

Dante: you received notification online before the “check back soon” status, or through mail?

I had been getting the “check back soon” message for about the last twenty-four hours, but when I looked a few minutes ago, I was able to log in (and found out that I was accepted!). Mine didn’t make any mention of scholarships or financial aid, so I guess we’re stuck waiting for all of that.

Your offer of admission with scholarship if any will arrive in the US mail - they will put them in the mail soon. I called today asking about any deadline they may have for National Merit corp notification. The counselor said that while they will start awarding National Merit awards starting March 1st, we have until May 1 to notify NMC of first college of choice. She also said that they will not tell the scholarship amount over the phone. If you are applying for FA, then don’t you have to file the profile and FAFSA- won’t they be independent of the FA app to CASE? I think 3/1 is the deadline for FAFSA’s. Check the FAFSA website.

I work for a college. I was told that when we file the FAFSA, we have to give a list of colleges that would get our information. No, I do not work for FA; but know the FA director well enough to get facts about the FAFSA. Colleges download student information from the fafsa website - and then a lot of processing to determine scholarships, workstudy, aids, loans, parent plus loans, etc.
