Admissions process a little sloppy..

Does anyone else get that feeling? I got my acceptance letter a while back and I could not find a card or form to sign and send back accepting or not. Then , just today, I get a letter congratulating me on my early acceptance (i did not apply early) and still nothing else. I have also heard of a lot of people missing information packages, etc.

For a school of the caliber and reputation of Georgetown's I think it is very disappointening.

Considering that they must deal with over 16000 applicants, and over 3000 admits, I'd expect a handful of errors in any university's process.

correct me if i'm wrong moviebuff, but aren't you going to brown...? ergo, shouldn't this not be an issue?

in any case, i've experienced no problems so i would imagine your situation is an anomaly.

LOL moviebuff I got the same letter today even though I also applied regular - but the admissions office sent me an e-mail of apology. A lot of the people working in the admissions office are students and I'm sure they are stressed out right now studying for finals, etc... and it's easy to make a simple mistake. It's not like they accidentally sent you a letter of rejection or something.

I got one too haha. No e-mail though. I don't think they have my e-mail address.

I'm pretty sure the assumption is that if they don't receive your deposit by May 1, then you aren't coming.

And yes the admissions office is staffed by student volunteers who do a lot of the stuff, or all of it, that could lead to that sort of error. With finals a week and a half away it's to be expected.

well aot2007, as you can see, my situation was not an anomaly. Some people are anxious in terms of getting off waitlists, etc and most competitive universities are including a form or card and prepaid postage envelopes so that the students let them know ASAP of their intentions, even before May 1st. That way they can start working on their waitlist sooner.

This whole process has been stressful enough to have to worry about whether the school is sending/receiving the right forms or not. Can you imagine if they misplace your deposit and they take you for one of those students that is not planning to attend? A bit too sloppy I think.
