Admissions Question

I am a senior in high school and have a decent GPA - 3.5 UW

Although my high school grades are decent, would UIUC be impressed if I were to obtain my Associates Degree from a community college with a GPA of around 3.5 or 3.6? Would this be another reason to accept me?

Thanks

You would probably have to apply as a transfer. Which may be easier to get in rather than applying as a freshmen I think.

No I'm talking about getting my associates degree WHILE in high school. I would still enter as a freshman because I will go straight from high school into college. Any input??

I too believe you'd have to go in as a transfer since you have >x amount of college credit courses under your belt

(Not sure what the specific value of x is though)

As of right now I have around 40. But I talked to the university and they said I would still apply as a freshman, just with an advanced standing.

Would something like this impress UIUC?

stats and classes taken?

If you take community college courses while in high school, and even if you complete an associates degree, you will still be considered a freshman applicant out of high school when you apply and not a transfer applicant. Having an associates degree, in and of itself will not be of any importance in the admission decision. However, a factor considered for admission is course schedule and difficulty of courses taken, and having a number of community college courses that qualify as transferable courses to UIUC, and good grades in them, will be a plus. You can also get college credit at UIUC for such courses as long as you are not using the course to meet a minimum high school course requirement needed for admission.
