Admissions Representative Email

Hello,

As I get closer to applying to colleges I want to reach out to my admissions representatives. I have only sent a couple emails so far and I was wondering what the protocol is with contacting admissions? What is appropriate to ask and how often should I be contacting admissions? I have lots of specific questions regarding my senior schedule, is that something that I should ask about or no?

Thank you.

Their job is to answer legitimate questions that can’t be found on the website, not to become your buddy nor your advisor about HS schedule (that’s your GC’s job).

If you’re targeting schools who struggle to find good applicants, then it may be to your benefit to show your willingness. These are usually lesser known schools. For many, many colleges (incl all Ivies), they don’t want/need a relationship w/you. Don’t stalk them.Stop emailing them.

I would not bombard them with emails, as that can turn very annoying very quick. However, if you have an honest question that about something that has to do with college admissions, you can send an email to the admissions office. However, note that your questions about your senior schedule can probably be solved by simply talking to a guidance counselor at your school. What specific questions would you need to ask that only an admissions officer could answer?

Only ask if it is something specific to that institution and not answered anywhere online. You should not be asking general questions about college admissions.

Keep in mind you’re just communicating with clerical staff, not the people who read and review applications. They can help if you are confused about the application format, submission, transcripts, etc… They can’t help you maximizes your chances or give advice.
