What can you or can you not email a college admissions representative. Thank you

Ummmm… care to elaborate a bit more?

In general, don’t clog their email w/questions that can be found on their website.

Well I’m a senior in high school and I want to email a college rep to, I guess, wanting to know them better. Like creating a relationship of some kind. But what can you and can not asked them or say to them?

Ahhhh… the “let me befriend them” question.

For schools where a relationship matters (think smaller and lesser known schools where they will pursue YOU) it’ll be pretty obvious. They’ll be emailing YOU and sending you goodies to keep their school on your radar.

For competitive schools, you’ll just look like a stalker – they don’t want or need any relationship with you. If you have a legitmate question, go ahead. Otherwise, abandon this strategy. It’s pretty obvious to the admissions officer community.
