Admissions representatives

First, sorry if this is in the wrong section. I didn’t know where to put it.

My dilemma is: Notre Dame is visiting a local college fair soon and I REALLY want to attend and make a good impression on the ad rep, but I have a game during the entire fair and I can’t miss it. This is the only fair that they’re visiting near me and l was wondering two things:

  1. Does meeting face to face with an admissions representative help THAT much of should I just not worry about it?
  2. Would emailing my regions's rep and explaining that I would love to meet them but I can't and why I can't and that I'm really interested, etc. just hurt my case or would it be useful?

Any help is VASTLY APPRECIATED!!

It’s not that big a deal for ND. You don’t need to email with an explanation

So meeting wouldn’t exactly make or break my admissions chances? Do they get such a large amount of applications that it wouldn’t matter?

Making face to face contact is always a nice bonus, but it won’t make or break your admissions chances. I think you could still email her and say you would love to meet her- you could even ask if she has time to hang around after or perhaps before your game to chat.

The one college fair I went to was a mob scene and there was no chance for meaningful time with admissions officers from the top schools. That said, while it is not necessary, it would not hurt to write a short email to the rep as a way of introducing yourself and expressing interest in ND.

The reps meet thousands of students from state to state. They can’t possibly remember everyone. This isn’t your “chance to make an impression”. So, don’t stress about it.

send her an email it’ll reflect well on you

this fair will be a mob scene too. its regional with over 100 colleges

So you’re concerned that this person (who is there to disseminate info and to gin up application interest) is going to miss you?

You’re 100% fine

^^^You may also want to include high school and social security number (especially if you don’t have a common app #) under your name

I absolutely second NOT including your SSN in your email!

I stand corrected.
