Does anyone know what the admissions statistics were for Wash U this year (accept rate for RD, ED, etc)?

19% overall i believe

heard somewhere that 3000 kids were waitlisted.

I would really find it hard to believe that 3000 kids were waitlisted. Do they have a system where you only stay on the waitlist if you respond? I know quite a few schools use that system to find out who really wants to come out of the "maybe" pile.

My estimation is that 18.6% were admitted this year, if they expected a yield similar to last year and admitted the same number of applicants. A large number of students are waitlisted, as a security measure and to enable any that truly aspire to attend the school to express that interest. They do have a system by which students either accept or deny their spot on the waitlist; I know this because 5 students from my high school were waitlisted (only 1 was rejected, and as far as I know, nobody else was accepted).

If you look purely at acceptance, I'd say they accepted around 8%. More than 22000 students applied, and only 1350 were offered admission.

no 4000 were offered acceptance, only 1350 spots are in the freshman class, so therefore the acceptance rate is around 18-20%. They have to accept more than the number of spots because of their around 33% yield, so they need an insurance policy for those accepted who don't enroll.

There are 1350 spots for the freshman class but that doesn't mean they only accepted 1350. I think they accepted like 4000 (not everyone accepted will choose to go to Wash U). I heard they waitlisted ALOT....somewhere around 10000. Is that true!?

10000 sounds enormously high

I'd suggest that people stop speculating on the waitlist size until someone gets an official answer. Estimation of the number just leads to frustration and more wild speculation on Wash U's "true motives".

In past years, between 4050 and 4100 have been accepted for 1350 spots. This yields the acceptance rate as discussed above. As for the waitlist size, there are no official statistics at this point, and as oncampus has stated, please don't throw out random numbers. Someone might actually believe you.

I was waitlisted, as well as just about everyone else from my school. You do have to tell them you wish to remain on the waitlist.

Some newspaper article from the KC Star was a bit misleading...it said that Wash U accepted 1350 students out of 22000 applicants, but the actual freshman class is 1350, which leads me to think they would accept maybe between 3900 and 4200 applicants and wait-list a ton of others to account for yield.
