Admissions stats predictions

I think hoedown will know this stuff the best, but what are you guys thinking uMich's admissions stats will be like for the class of 2010. Consider that we've overenrolled the past two years. College board lists the stats of the class of 2009 as follows:

Freshmen enrolled: 6,037
62% Acceptance Rate
90% in top tenth of graduating class
98% in top quarter of graduating class
Median scores:
SAT Verbal: 580-680
SAT Math: 630-720
ACT: 26-30

Do you guys think they'll go back down to the stats of 5000 enrolled for 2010 as they did in the past? If so, will Michigan be accepting around 45% of applicants, and can we expect to see these statistics rise? I'd like your input.

folds arms, sits back, and eagerly awaits the guesses

unlike certain congresspeople, I cannot be bribed for info. LOL

I'm not guessing because I have no idea. :)

However, just curious... I thought this year's acceptance rate was around 56%. Last year's was 62%. I think I saw it on either the US News web site or the College Board web site (probably US News). I tried finding it again, but I can;t seem to locate it. Am I wrong?

Didn't someone say that they're demolishing one of the freshman dorms? Thus a decrease in acceptances...? That would really suck :(

You're right in recalling that the Fall 2004 acceptance rate was higher (though by how much I can't recall--I never calculate it without accounting for residency, while the CDS blends 'em). That was because app volume was way down (first year after lawsuits, first year with essays, and app published late, who else knows why).

As app numbers have bounced back, acceptance rates are going back to more traditional levels.

They're not demolishing MoJo, they're renovating. The new dining hall looks like it will be incredible, incidentally.

Thanks hoedown. :)

Parikhs, you're probably thinking about the Frieze Building. I believe they're planning on getting rid of that to make a new dorm: North Quad.

Actually they are remodeling Mosher-Jordan for Fall 2006 so it will be closed for this next school year.

the Frieze Building is so frickin ugly that thing should have been demolished years ago

It could be a beautiful building if they hadn't let it go to crap. If they pulled off the ugliest addition and refurbished it, it could be lovely like Lorch or the School of Ed. Instead, it's an eyesore. Those nasty metal gratings rusting on the windows! UGH. as it looks now, I'd be happy to set the dynamite myself and push the plunger.

I'm pretty geeked about North Quad--sounds like it will include some great stuff, and what a location!

Hmm...i tend to agree about the frieze buidling...it COULD be really nice. But sweet god...what were the engineers smoking when they built that addition, it must have been some heavy stuff!..and more importantly..where can i get some?

:-D
