hey guys!! do any of you know the score required to get into Nanyang Technological University? I am doing the IB diploma. is the score required similar to NUS?

umm anybody wanna reply guys? :)

Which course?

I am not that familiar with NTU. NTU is like a different universe to me… Generally, Biz and Engin. will require similar scores to NUS Biz and NUS Engin, occasionally a bit higher. Humanities & Social Sciences will be a lot easier to get into than FASS, I’d guess maybe three or four grades across the board (BCCC vs AABC as the cutoff - just a guess); SCI is probably around as competitive as FASS but that’s probably not a valid comparison since people usually lean strongly one way or another (i.e. do you want to do comm or not). I do not know a single person doing science at NTU so I have no idea, but that’s just me.

Now that I think about your question, it seems a little unusual. Singaporeans and applicants to Singapore universities usually pick the course first and then the “hierarchy” of universities and scores required follows; the cachet is not in the university name. For example, while NUS is regarded as the “better” university, I believe the consensus is that if you want to do accountancy, NTU has the better accountancy course. Similarly, if you want to do econs, people generally regard NUS as better than SMU as better than NTU. People usually have a strong preference for one of the three universities if they already have a course in mind.

oh sorry im applying for electrical engineering and im doing the IB diploma in an international school in Belgium.

i am a little surprised to know that NTU requires IB points higher than NUS for some course. i mean, NUS needs like 40 in the IB anyway, so the fact that NTU might need higher is a little scary. I’m predicted around 38 out of 42. consider 1 or 2 for TOK + EE

According to this post on the Brightsparks forum: [Indicative Grade Profiles for NIE/NTU/NUS/SMU 2010 - BrightSparks Forum](http://forum.brightsparks.com.sg/showthread.php?t=4225), NTU’s EEE (BCCC) is easier to get into than NUS Electrical Engineering (BBBC). However - this is based on the A Level system, and 40/45 in the IB is a much better score than BBBC for the A Levels, so it’s strange that NUS should demand so much more from IB applicants than A Levels. I reckon if you get your predicted 39 or 40 you will probably get into one, if not both courses.

ok thank you. the information you provided was really useful :)
