admissions

I've been reading the threads in MT for a while. It is unclear to me when schools let students know whether they have been admitted. It looks like even after the early action schools notify, students in past years have gotten notifications of acceptance in the winter (Jan, Feb, Mar). On the other hand, it looks like some schools notify students on the classic April 1 date. When do students who audition on dates that are not specifically "early action" usually find anything out?

This will vary from school to school, so you will need to ask each school directly. There is no hard and fast answer to the question.

The absolute latest I have heard of is people getting off of wait lists in late may. I found out from most of my schools mid-march, but a few acceptances rolled in in february.

rejections are more like to come earlier though, so no news is good news. I know its a hard wait!

Because so many students are now auditioning for the MT programs, there is a huge domino effect that can happen once admittances are posted. I know of many students who thought they had committed to the final school of their choice and later chose to go to a different one after they were admitted off of wait lists. So, I think now the final decision making may actually go into late May for some students. And yes, they will have probably signed off on the deposit they made earlier, but at least they were accepted and smart enough to make one!
