admitted in HS, didn't go, now want to transfer?

So here I am once again at the JHU collegeconfidential messageboard page, but this time with a very different circumstance:

Last spring I was admitted to Hopkins with the hope of majoring in English or Creative Writing. After considering my options, it came down to NYU and Hopkins. It was the most painful decision, but I ended up at NYU since so much of my family has attended and it had been embedded in me since I was 12 and saw the school for the first time that should go there.

Here I am a year later and after chuggin' through required courses and trying new things, I find myself in a very different place, wanting to major in economics--a world apart from Creative Writing. But in retrospect, I am certain that the small school environment at Hopkins is much more suitable for me than NYU.

So my ultimate question: if I were to apply as a transfer student to Hopkins in the next semester or so, would admissions look down on my application because I had already been accepted admission and went to another school instead?

so you would be applying to start as a junior at Hopkins? I think the admit rate is 7% for transfer students at least according to PrincetonReview. Odds don’t look good for any transfer.

The odds may be low, but if you don’t apply, the chance is 0%. If you are serious about transferring, look at other schools as well. Make sure that you cannot do what you want to do at NYU- thoroughly investigate what they have.

I agree. Do your research and maybe meet with people there.
