Once you send in your deposit, you will get a Cornell ID. When you have that, you can log on to a page that has a VERY well-organized list of things you should do starting now through the summer. It’s a checklist and everything is easy to accomplish. I remember the physical exam due date being a little earlier than I would have thought - but they do need to go over it and give you time to do anything you might have missed. Most of it’s fun and easy, some is forms to be filled out by you and your parent. Get your housing request in! Don’t worry about which dorm you’ll be in. Answer the questions about roommate selection honestly. My son was in a low rise and they all had a great time. He said others were jealous of how close its residents are. They do a lot together and have even done some service work as a dorm. Think about meals and what you will actually use in a week. There are little restaurants within walking distance that are good for breaks on weekends.

Clothes - water and wind proof. Waterproof shoes. Hats and gloves. A three-in-one coat was recommended to us and our son has liked the flexibility - the shell is waterproof. Get a tiny umbrella to put in your backpack. Even if you think you’ll never use it, you will. distances can be long and it rains a lot.

Weren’t decisions just released today? You should still be in your initial phase of excitement. Cornell will guide you as to what you need to do. Don’t worry about buying stuff. WORST CASE SCENARIO: You actually have to do some shopping in Ithaca…
