My daughter was accepted into LSU. Admitted Student Days begins at 9 AM, but our flight won’t arrive until 10:30 AM (only way we can get there). Is it still worth it or should we just come another day?
Your date may have passed, but I will answer in case someone else has a question ahead of the second Admitted Student’s day in mid-April.
If you are flying in to Baton Rouge, the airport is approximately 15 minutes from the campus. The first session starts at 9am in the student’s college of the student’s major, so you will miss that. You can go there when you arrive and see if you can chat with faculty and current students at the reception and join the tour. I saw fascinating things during my DD’s tour during Kickoff so I would try to make the major college tour.
If you are flying in the airport closer to New Orleans, you have quite a drive ahead of you. You can stop by the college but things may be done there. Move on to the Student Union and visit the information fair. We got most of our questions answered and got some cute LSU swag. Ride the trolley to visit the campus stops. The campus is big and beautiful and you need to see it. Get ice cream, a admitted students T-shirt and take your decision photo all in the Quad area.
BTW: We flew in the night before for our two visits and that made for less stress.
Thanks. I called the school, and they said that we could arrive any time and still get value out of it. Even so, we ended up reserving an admitted student tour on an ordinary day.
