Admitted Students Day April 5

I'm starting a new thread because the old one seemed to have gotten derailed. Our family attended ASD this past weekend with D. Ds 5 college choices are all fantastic so we wanted a sense of the town and of the students. Our first visit was in the summer and there were few students. We came away with the impression that the students were polished, the opportunities were abundant and the value was impressive. The town, however, was isolated and that may work against Bing for my daughter. As a parent, I was excited about the potential. I was impressed by the opportunities for leadership within the independent organizations. I also liked the research opportunities. Overall, good experience.

I would like to hear pros and cons from other parents and students especially about the diversity of students and faculty.

We were also very impressed with the opportunities for research. Downtown Binghamton is definitely not an area that my son will go frequently. But, it does appear that the campus shuttles will take them to a lot of shopping centers in the area.

D and I were blown away by Bing. Made me regret my decision thirty years ago . I transferred to Oswego instead of Binghamton because of lack of housing. D has her choices narrowed down to Penn State , UCONN and Bing. I told her If she goes to Bing I will pay extra for the fancy new dorms. It is the best bang for the buck. We went to Accepted Students Day the day after you. As far as the area… Most students spend their majority of their time on campus. We live OOS in the sticks so D finds it exciting .
