Admitted to Revelle at UCSD

If you were admitted to Revelle and are not attending UCSD, you would really help me out if you sent an e-mail request to collegechange@ad.ucsd.edu All you have to say in the e-mail is that you are requesting to transfer from Revelle to Eleanor Roosevelt College. Also include your PID# in the email. It is non-obligational so you have nothing to lose. I know where I sit on the waiting list and I'm the only one in the top five from ERC that is requesting a transfer to Revelle. You would definitely help me out.

If you were admitted to Revelle and ARE attending UCSD, the chances of you transferring into Warren, Marshall, or Muir are slim. So instead of trying an upward transfer, maybe a lateral transfer would be mutually beneficial. For an IGETC transfer in Revelle, you could potentially have to take 8 GE classes!!! (2 calculus, 3 science, and 3 foreign language courses) At ERC the only requirement is 3 MMW courses. Thats it. One of them can be MMW 1 which requires no writing.

I want to make the trade because I am interested in taking the foreign language courses. My girlfriend of four years is mexican and her mother speaks very little English, so I know it would mean a lot to my girlfriend if I learned Spanish. It would be nice to actually clear General Education requirements while learning the language.

Here are the links to the GE requirements:
<a href="http://revelle.ucsd.edu/new-students/igetc-plus.html%5B/url%5D">http://revelle.ucsd.edu/new-students/igetc-plus.html</a> Revelle
<a href="http://roosevelt.ucsd.edu/academics/gen-ed/index.html%5B/url%5D">http://roosevelt.ucsd.edu/academics/gen-ed/index.html</a> Roosevelt

im a transfer going to UCSD and DESPERATELY trying to get out of revelle…it would cause me to stay probably an extra year with all of the extra GE requirements! i already e-mailed them but if there’s anyway we could laterally transfer that would be amazing!

I will cross my fingers for you UChopeful, I can see how bad you want to transfer. I have a friend who wants to get out of Revelle and wouldn’t mind going to ERC, so I will send him the template email, maybe that will help you get out of ERC. Good luck!

@ uclaluv Did you put in your request that you would be willing to transfer into Eleanor Roosevelt?

Gaiou, Thank you so much. I’m pretty sure I’m at the top of the list trying to get into Revelle so I’m hoping for the best.

No problem, I really hope it works out for you.

i put them in order of preference (roosevelt being 4th) but I basically said I would take any one except revelle because I’m a sociology major and some of my required classes count for Roosevelt but nothing counts for revelle.

When did you send in the request?

it was this morning, i think around 11?

Hopefully the lady who handles them goes through the list tomorrow and sees she has a match in our two requests.

I’ve actually recruited three students who aren’t going to UCSD to send in requests to transfer into ERC. If anything, I’m helping the people on the list ahead of me lol.

Ok so I got accepted to revelle for fall 10 (transfer comm.) but i do not want to stay longer and spend more money on all the science and math. I want to switch but i was advised by someone I trust (attended 10 years ago) that i should remain my first quarter at revelle then switch later she said it looks bad if you try and switch before you go in. I dont really see the logic in that but thats what she said. wondering if you all had heard the same.

plus i heard that erc is mainly all girls? ??

“that i should remain my first quarter at revelle then switch later she said it looks bad if you try and switch before you go in”

I have not heard the same and I don’t see how it would make a difference. I doubt they keep tabs on the ones who switched before they go in and have it out for you. And I’m pretty sure it is not going to show on up on any record either; whereas a inter college transfer when you are already attending may (only speculation).

I heard that the process for transferring once in the school is difficult. You have to submit two separate course plans and a statement for your reason for the transfer. Also, once enrolled in your college, you cannot request an Inter College Transfer until Winter 2010 and, if granted, it won’t take effect until Spring 2011

“plus i heard that erc is mainly all girls”

As a transfer, you are not going to stay in the ERC dorms anyways and you will only take 3 classes with exclusively ERC students. Mainly all girls would seem to be a plus anyways :).

As a comm major you would really save yourself some unnecessary science and calculus classes by being in ERC instead of Revelle.

UChopeful2010 ===== OK You knwo what you bring up some very good points. Are you asking me to do something? I figure I wouldnt do anything until I go to transfer day on sat. WHy do you want to go to Revelle? Sorry if you already said why.

I want Revelle because I already have the math and science complete. Ultimately, I would be trading the 3 MMW courses I’d be forced to take in ERC for the 3 foreign language courses I’d have to take in Revelle. I’d rather learn the second language.

JTA, after Saturday if you are still interested in switching colleges let me know.
