that’s really it, I am shocked at my admittance to be completely honest. I was already getting ready for UCSB.

None. You don’t need any if you’re not applying to an impacted major.

I sat on my ass for two years.

that’s how we do it CCC88!

Not true. EC is important I think, unless you’re lucky. I had 4.0 but no ECs unless you count work for a major I thought barely anyone would apply for at Cal. Rejected.

ECs are pretty important for Cal from what I know.

what major? There’s something more to your situation if you had a 4.0 + some work exp. and were rejected even with no ECs if you applied to a really unpopular major. My gf was also accepted w/ zero ECs and she had an even more popular major than mine.

Applied: UCLA & Berkeley
Accepted: UCLA & Berkeley

thanks for sharing

EC: none

Rejected at UCLA

3.2
English
Accepted: UCSD, UCD, UCB
Rejected: UCLA
EC: 150 hours volunteer

I was admitted to UCLA (History) and Cal (Media Studies)

GPA: 3.83
Pre-reqs: All completed except one for CAL (not offered @ my CCC)
Essay: Excellent
ECs: I work part-time in the transfer center @ my CCC. I also worked full-time for 8 years while going to school part-time off and on. I really played this up in my personal statement. I let them know that I understand the meaning of hard work and how hard it is to be successful in the real world without a college education. I also wrote about working part-time in the transfer center and how rewarding it is to help my fellow students realize that they can follow their dreams too. Other than that, I really don’t have any ECs. I honestly don’t have time. I think I was accepted b/c I am the poster child for non-traditional students.

I was also accepted by CAL’s TAP which I think ultimately put me over the edge. This was not supposed to happen to me, so I am still very shocked.

GPA: 3.0-3.1
Accepted to: UCLA (geography, TAP), UCSD (management science)
EC: none, no job either
