Admitting OCD in Commonapp Essay?

What’s up College Confidential.
In short, would talking about OCD on the commonapp essay be a good idea? This person is highly functioning and seems perfectly normal, but hasn’t gone to see professional help. I guess it depends how the essay is written, but what are your experiences with this? How do admissions officers usually react to this? And by the way, the piece is about confessing to a close relative about the disorder.
Any input would be great. Thanks!

Nope. Don’t.

An OCD student without intervention services? Not a good idea.

How would this admission give the college a reason to say yes to the application??? That’s the point behind the essay-- to give them a reason to want you on campus.

And, for the record, self diagnosis probably isn’t the way to go, either on the essay or in real life. If there’s a problem, the appropriate professional should diagnose it and advise on intervention.

Yikes, in today’s world, don’t highlight a mental health problem that hasn’t been treated with serious attempts to over come it. Colleges will not want to accept any potential liability.
