Adoption and financial aid

I just read another post that says financial assistance is expected from both biological parents. I presume that this also applies to both adoptive parents, correct? Especially considering that the biological parents are unknown (foreign adoption). In our situation both adoptive parents are still married, but what if they weren't?

Will an adopted child be eligible for any financial aid that a non-adopted child wouldn't be?

Any other little things to be aware of?

I have always read that, not to delineate between adoptive /biological parents.
Parents are parents, whether they are married to each other or not. Sometimes you may have a biological parent who remarries and then divorces, I wouldn’t expect the divorced stepparent to have to give info especially if the other biological parent was still around someplace* unless* the stepparent had adopted the student. Then the adoptive parent would be giving financial info ( for the PROFILE, it wouldn’t be needed for FAFSA)

If you adopted a child, you are now what would otherwise be the “biological” parents. The same rules apply to you that would apply to the bio parents … and the fact that you adopted the child means that the bio parents no longer play any part for aid purposes.

^ that’s pretty much what I figured, but being that the term “biological” is used, I just thought I’d ask.

Thanks.
