advanced econ. vs econ-math major

which one do you think is better, taking intermediate econ. classes with pure mathematics... or taking only advanced econ. classes which don't always need pure mathematics

Do you mean calculus when you refer to "pure mathematics?" I think Calculus I and to a lesser extent Calculus II will enrich your understanding of economics. If your objective is to get into a top Bschool, Calculus I&II and Statistics are helpful. There are students who do not take these prior to an MBA or even a BA in economics, but I think you will miss an important dimension.

thanks, I mean calculus and beyond but only theory and no application. definitely maths helps to understand economics, I just wanted to know how useful it is is to know pure maths (no apps.) vs. doing advanced courses in economics as an undergrad and if this is important for b.school.

For an MBA, they will be =

Why does it have to be one or the other?
