What are the advantages of applying early action over regular decision at Nova? Do you get better chances for admission ?, better chances for scholarships, FA?

You need to have extraordinary credentials to get in EA…That said, you’d likley get placed into RD when declined EA,and a significant % get in this way…No advantage from what i know about EA and FA/merit aid

At Nova I’d say do the EA, if nothing else, it shows interest.

I agree with KasierSosay. I applied EA and was accepted in RD. Although your credentials might not be top-notch, applying early shows that 'Nova is of great interest to you

My daughter #1 applied EA in 2009, got in RD.
Daughter #2 applied EA 2 weeks ago, we will see.

Could any veterans of the NOVA EA process clue me in as to the approximate yield that has resulted from the past few EA classes? That is, what percentage of the past few freshman classes has been derived from the EA acceptance pool?

Was in Philly over the weekend cheering on our older son who ran in the Philly marathon…stopped by the campus with DD, but when I posed the question, the tour guide had absolutely no idea…while I’m well aware that EA admittees tend to be the brightest lights, I’m just curious as to how many of these students choose Villanova over the competition.

I have the acceptance numbers from my school in NJ. 45% of EA action students were accepted vs 25% accepted for regular decision. But, I am sure the kids that applied EA had higher GPA and better SAT/ACT, so they would have gotten in either way.

Nickenzy,
Here’s the attending student profile link. Poke around, maybe they break it out v reg and EA, although I doubt it.

If a student is admitted EA, they are able to register for second semester freshman classes ahead of the RD freshmen (crucial in avoiding those early morning class times!).

@archiemom - what you said about scheduling is false. i am a VSB freshman now and applied EA, but was accepted RD… i received the first registration time for spring '11… so what you are saying is not correct. student registration times are done at random and i just so happened to get lucky
