Living off campus is way better. I live 5 minutes from my campus and fraternity house. I have 5 brothers with me, three beer pong tables, 12 guns, a huge tv,a great soundsystem, a bar for a third floor, and the best dog ever.

This really goes away if you go to a school where you have your own room. For example, at two of the colleges I’ve been two, the majority had their own rooms and many people didn’t feel the need to go out and meet people in their dorms.

Why is rooming with your best friend a bad thing?

^ Sometimes spending so much time with a person becomes difficult. It can ruin a lot of people’s friendships, but you might have better luck with it. I actually experienced that, was best friends with someone and she needed a place to stay… Needless to say, best friends doesn’t always mean best room mate. You may have similar interests, but disagree on things such as cleanliness or they may use certain things to their advantage (“Well we’re best friends so I didn’t think you would mind if I took your stuff without asking!”)

“12 guns”

I’m a huge gun person but damn that’s a lot of firepower lol

haha, and that is only between 4 of us. Each of us has a shotgun and rifle, and on top of that two of us have M1 carbines. then another guy has two hand guns

Con: No roomate
Pro: No roomate

PKP where do you go to school if I might ask? Or at least what state?

Virginia close to the mountains

Well then that’s cool though. I’m pretty sure at my school if you said you owned guns people would look at you like you had two heads.

haha. i go to an elite LAC, but a lot of people own guns and hunt. we like to shoot skeet and take kids hunting for rush

pros:

free parking
you can smoke indoors

cons:

can lose FA

You can lose aid?? What if there’s simply no on-campus housing available to you (as is the case at many big schools)?

Um, I’m not sure why you would lose FA either. You can get student loans for an off-campus apartment.

Well, commuter students are eligible for less aid because their COA is lower than an on-campus student, so if you were considered a commuter (which I think you might be) that might be why. But if your expenses are lower that wouldn’t matter.
