Advantages of Transfering with IGETC finished?

Hello guys! Well as logical I attend a CC here in CA. I hope to transfer to UC Davis (my first pick). However, I will also give a shot to UC Berkeley, I figured, what's the worst that can happen? Anyway, my question is this: Will I have a better change at getting into UC Berkeley with all my major Pre-reqs done as well as all my IGETC? My GPA will end up at 3.4 or so and my major is Economics. I have experience tutoring kids in the math center at my school as well as president of a club and a member of a few more activities on campus. I also volunteer regularly and do the whole routine trying to impress. So will finishing all the pre reqs and IGETC increase my chances?

Hi Anthrolalo,

I think you could probably answer your own question here. :stuck_out_tongue: But yes, it will be very advantageous to complete both your major pre-reqs and IGETC. If completing one necessarily precludes your completion of the other, see your UC-specific major requirements for guidance.

Yes, you want to complete IGETC, Stats, micro and macro econ and a year of Calc prior to transfer to UCB for Econ. I’d imagine it would be similar at UCD since Econ pre reqs don’t have a huge variance between the UC’s. I know people who attended UCB for Econ and even though they found it quite dry, they seemed to have liked it. I think the one thing they were disillusioned about was thinking just because they went to Berkeley, businesses would open their arms up to them. The only job I’ve seen UCB econ majors get with just a BA was counting change behind a cash register at the local shop. The ones that didn’t plan on getting a MA in Econ ended up going back to a CCC for some work related certificate.

kmazza googled all of this. He got this information from other college-related message boards and doesn’t actually know people who attended UCB for econ. The guy’s a documented crackpot around here who gets off on injecting himself into every little conversation with details that he, at the ripe old age of 39 (LOL) couldn’t possibly have without scouring the internet for information.

Listen to him at your own risk, or do your own homework and try to discern what’s what.

No disrespect GT, I don’t hate you mate but do think you are a petty insecure person of barely average intelligence from what you have displayed here on CC. You don’t seem to get that your attacks against my character do not help any of your knee jerk reactionary comments. I must admit I do find it amusing how much you constantly project how crazy I am, yet you seem to have little introspection, capacity for reason, or understanding of your own psyche. So do you plan to share what UC and major you are in?

P.S. I lived by Andronico’s on Telegraph and worked in Berkeley and for Cal for years when places like the Berlin Wall across from Tower and Kody’s Bookstore existed. I also attended DVC for years which is one of the larger feeder schools to UCB. You should really get over the fact that you aren’t Berkeley material.

Shhhh… settle down please. I’m far too busy to read this. You should work on your tendency to be long-winded.

My bad,I forgot your reading comprehension skills are barely jr high level. I wouldn’t want to overload that mushy wormbrain of yours resting on top of your jelly like spine.

Don’t have time to read this right now, but I’ll get to it as soon as I can and let you know. Thanks!

Best,
