I intend to major in economics.
This session, as COVID messed up the school year, I only have month-long summer vacations. Nonetheless, I would like to complete an internship.
I will only be able to devote ~ 10 hours/week, and the internship will be unpaid.
I am not in the US, and high-schoolers doing internships isn’t much of a thing in my country.
A close friend of my father heads an umbrella organization for microfinance institutions in the country. It is fairly small (15-20 employees), and I won’t really be able to contribute meaningfully.
I have a few questions regarding the same-
- Will colleges care about it? I read that they generally disregard such business/finance internships because high schoolers are generally unable to contribute, and they are aware these are generally landed through connections.
- If I do decide to go through with it and complete the internship, what are some things I could do? What do high schoolers generally do at non-STEM summer internships? All ideas are welcome.
Thanks a ton
