<p>I agree that attending Cal Polu SLO for premed from OOS makes no sense - unless she’s unsure about her choice and hopes to do engineering. Engineering has lower typical/median GPAs (-.3, sometimes more!) than most majors and it is much more prescribed in terms of courses than the “general” majors. However Cal Poly SLO is excellent for all engineering specialties so it’d make sense if she wanted engineering, not premed.</p>
<p>My son (not from Virginia) rejected William and Mary from the website since he didn’t see any kids who looked like him. (Shoulder length long hair.) Of course he cut his hair short at the end of freshman year because he was going to study in Jordan, and figured he’d make a better impression looking less scruffy. Has she considered Carnegie Mellon or Rice for engineering? </p>
