Advice and materials to increase SAT scores by Jan 23rd!

Hi all!

I have a 640 in Math, 700 in CR and 620 in Writing from the December SAT (although I honestly think that W was a fluke, since I was sick on the day and have been getting 750s on my practice tests repeatedly as well as a 790 in Lit SAT II) and after studying some, my practice tests generally come to around 2150, 2200s on a better day.

I have been studying Erica Meltzer’s Direct Hits vocab on Quizlet, and started using Dr. Chung’s SAT Math book. Does anyone know what collections of vocab words are more important to learn, since all 500 of them can’t possibly be common ones, right? Although I usually do well on Writing, I would really appreciate any books/preferably online resources to study that further too! My parents have also hired an SAT tutor who I will meet for the next couple of weeks. How do I get the most out of these sessions with this tutor and up my scores from 640, 700, and (a fluke 620) to at least all 750s?

I have heard pwnthesat + Dr.Chung’s is good for Math, and Erica Meltzer’s Direct Hits Vocab, (and of course the blue CollegeBoard book) but any other materials that helped you up your scores fast would be much appreciated! Are any others of Meltzer’s materials good? I’m willing to put hard work in, I just feel like I could use more great materials to help me be really successful on the last ever current SAT?

Any links to good advice here on CC would also be so helpful for not only me, but anyone else here on CC who is studying to do well on the final current SAT on January 23rd. Stuff like that of @Noitaraperp? I know there are other really helpful posters on here, I just don’t know of many of them since I’m tight on time.

Please please please could anyone post a link to good CC post/thread, helpful online materials, or recommendations for books? Let’s come together for the last ever SAT format that we all and love (!) guys!

Thank you all so much!

One site that helped me quite a bit in my studying for SAT was testive.com. It helped improve my grammar and critical reading scores, though my math stayed around the same (Granted, I usually score around 700’s for that portion). Keep in mind that there are several repeats of questions, however, the service is completely free so there’s no point in not using it.

As for vocab, from what I’ve heard Direct Hits seems to cover most, if not all, SAT vocabulary. A nice source I found for some harder words was in the Barron’s 2400 SAT book.

When you only start studying a month prior to the Jan SAT and need to cram, you tend to find a lot of helpful sources lol.

Thanks @Superyoshiom ! I didn’t know about testive. I wish I had made this thread earlier, so many more people could’ve benefitted from it! What have you used to improve your multiple choice Writing portion questions? Anyone can answer this btw! Which materials are good for improving Writing multiple choice questions?
