Advice for a Gap Year Applicant

Hello,
I am a gap year applicant who is planning to apply to college this Fall. Specifically, I wanted advice on how to get teacher recommendations. Although I am still very close with one academic teacher, I am no longer in good standing with any of my other high school teachers. I still have 10 months until applications are due, and I could take summer classes at Berkeley (my dream school), but I'm not sure how it will look to admissions officers if I got a recommendation from a summer class. What should I do?

Berkeley does not use teacher or counselor recommendations for frosh admission, except possibly for a few applicants asked for supplemental information. The same goes for other California public universities.
