I am an out of state CC student who is looking to transfer in a couple of years. Any advice? I know it's a bit more competitive for a non-CCC kid. Please and thank you!

Keep your GPA up, the higher it is the better your chances.

California CC students get priority, I assume you know that, and I’m guessing moving is out of the question… also, on that train of thought, are you able to afford out of state tuition? OoS is awfully expensive here.

Do your pre-reqs. Check assist.org (pick a random CC and Berkeley) to see what your major is expected to have taken prior to transfer. You can usually guess at the articulations, though some majors (like EECS) can be hard to find equivalents for.

Be interesting. Have some sort of ECs, something that makes you special. Essays are important and stuff.

Thanks! This is a really helpful list. I’ll check out assist.org.
