Any tips?
What do you suggest freshmen need for their dorms?
Is stealing an big issue? Any suggestions on how to keep your things safe?
What's already in the dorm room?
And how do they select your roommate?
And what do you do if you get sick? Like a cold or the flu? Do you just stay in your room and get your roommate sick? Misery does loves company...

These are the questions that keep me up at night...

hahaha i’m with ya on this one.
so many questions about college life keep me up at night too.

like, the first couple nights with a roomate must be pretty awkward…

All I need is my trusty guitar, some food, and a nice view of the night sky. :-)

I bet, and what if they keep to a completely different schedule? Earplugs and those airplane eye covers? All I can think of… best to get to know each other pretty fast, I guess.

Also… do people drive all of their things home for the summer? Is there a convenient and cheap storage facility available?

Stealing is not a big issue at least for me. I think as long as you keep your door locked and your window closed when you leave nothing will get stolen.

things already in a dorm room (at least in mine some colleges are different)
mirror
mattress/bed
desk with drawers and shelves
closet with drawers inside and space to hang clothes and shelves above them (depending on college it may just be a wardrobe)
They select your roommate based on a survey you fill out but honestly those things can be very vague so I have no clue how they really do it
If you get a cold or flu mostly you’ll get your roommate sick if they aren’t already since you’re in close quarters doesn’t always happen though. you can’t leave the room and go somewhere else when you or your roommate are sick. you just deal with it and go on with your normal routine if you’re not too sick
depending on your roommate the first couple of nights aren’t really that awkward most of the time you’re talking and getting to know each other
u will fill out a roommate contract and talk about your sleeping patterns, sounds that you can or can’t deal with when you’re study/asleep but yeah definitely bring headphones and eye covers if you can’t sleep with the light on
I drive all my stuff home for the summer but I live in San Jose so it’s pretty close.
