I'm a freshman at a private school in CA. Please let me know how my stats are and what I should do to increase my chances of getting into Dartmouth!

Here are some of my stats:

I took a diagnostic of the SAT as a freshman this year (age 14) and scored a 1990 with no prep at all!

3.98-4.0 GPA (I don't know all of my grades yet since some finals are still being graded)

taking 3 honors classes

I am in triple accelerated math, Honors Algebra 2

I'm in Honors Physics, which is taught by a Dartmouth graduate

I'm taking Honors Orchestra as a freshman, which is unheard of and usually just for juniors and seniors

I play on the JV tennis team

I play on the track and field team

I am in Model UN, and am the best speaker of the 9th graders

I volunteer at Cedars-Sinai to play cello there

AP courses I plan on taking:
- AP Art History
- AP US History
- AP Studio Art
- AP English Language

My best subjects are history and math. I am in triple accelerated math, Honors Algebra 2.

Q1: Any recommendations for AP courses?

Q2: Are my stats strong enough?

Q3: Any recommendations for sophomore year?

All info and advice is greatly appreciated!

Study hard and party hard. Do what you love in school and come back to CC in 3 years.
Go, have a life now.

Haha thanks I just don’t want to save this for last minute like that though

LOL. I’m going to pull a huge ‘I’m mature, listen to me’ act.

Instead of trying to get into an Ivy League school, try to be a well rounded person that an Ivy League school would want to have. Actually, even better: Try to excel because YOU want to, and not to impress a college.
I’m a senior now and I can tell you with a great deal of assurance that you most definitely will get disappointed if you center your life around the aim of going to an Ivy League school.

Will do, thank you!

Do what you want. Don’t volunteer if you don’t like doing that – dance instead. Show passion. Scores are NOT everything. People get rejected with GREAT SCORES and GPA.

Being unique is the key.

Also, ivy schools are not for everyone. Go to a school where you’ll be HAPPY (for example, U Chicago is notorious for being ‘where fun goes to die’)

I agree with coolpillow’s advice, but PLEASE ignore that nonsense about the U of C. People there have plenty of fun.

You’re a freshman. There is no need to start obsessing over colleges so early. Enjoy high-school and worry about applications junior year.

I will, but I’m also going to plan ahead and give myself a head-start.
