Advice for incoming freshman

Please tell me if you know of anyone who has rented a refrigerator for his dorm room, and if so, from whom did he rent it?
We don't want the microwave on top.
The rooms in Dobbs are small enough.
And with no elevator, the moving the thing sound like no fun.
Please help!

thanks

the service done in conjunction with Emory (which almost everyone uses) only offers Microwave-fridges, but they drop-off and pick-up to/from each individual's dorm room... it's actually not that much more expensive to buy a fridge, but you then have to deal with moving it/out in and storing it over the summers. and, just to note, you're not 'supposed' to have microwaves other than the ones offered through the micro-fridge service

thanks so much for answering!
the reason to rent would be the convenience of having the thing delivered and picked up.
the cost is not the number one concern.
i don't think a microwave is necessary. the rooms are small. heating up food doesn't seem worth the smells in such close quarters.
but a fridg is another story!
cold beverages would be a major plus.
thanks again.

The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life has a program called Project Move-in where about 150 upperclassmen in fraternities and sororities are at the freshmen dorms on move-in day to help lug stuff upstairs. There are another 100 orientation leaders also around to help move things into the dorms. You'll have plenty of help moving fridges, boxes, suitcases, or anything else on Saturday.

If cost isn't an issue, but convenience is, I'd recommend you just get the fridge/microwave and don't use the microwave. You will have help moving it in, and I'm pretty sure that on move-out day, you just leave it in the room.

My freshman/sophomore roommate brought her own fridge because she's diabetic, but it wasn't a rental. I just figured she bought it from a regular appliance store.

HEALTH QUALIFYING EXAM????
what is is?
what's on it?
help??

STD statistics/facts, health and wellness basics, some psych concepts, alcohol stats, depression and suicide... all that jazz. Health absolutely sucks as a class, so take the exemption exam during orientation; if you don't 'pass', there aren't any repercussions, you just take the class... but if you do pass, you save yourself a significant amount of [what would otherwise be] wasted time

sherbear..I will be living in dobbs also..!!!!!!!
