Advice For Juniors

Ok im a junior. Do any of you seniors have any advice for me? I want to know what i can do to increase my chances at harvard.

Study for the Sat/Act
Keep up the Grades
Do EC's etc.

those are all pretty broad tips, do you have any more focused ideas? Please dont say relax or dont worry about it. that is the kind of thing you say once your in/are done. If you think back to when you were in our shoes, you wouldnt like that kind of advice either. so please avoid the "enjoy your high school years" junk. Thank you!

Btw: im almost positive that this was a thread somewhere on this site, but its long been buried. sorry for the repost if this has been done before.

You pretty much answered your own question. Besides those three, however, you should also build strong relationships with counselors and teachers (since you'll be getting letters of recommendations from them).

found many clubs. lol, jk.

Sabotage your competitor's grade, etc.

Get yourself some leadership positions in your school. Examples include Prez/VP of your class, student body, clubs etc...

You should also get yourself either a job or a steady community service commitment, or even better: do both.

If you have any kind of aptitude in sciences/math you could apply to RSI, and get involved in Intel etc...

If you're leaning more towards humanities, then you might wanna do TASP. Try and compete in some essay contests if at all possible. Some suggestions include the Ayn Rand essay contests, JFK profiles in courage essay contest etc...

Sigh If only I'd known about those things earlier. I'd have a better chance of getting in than I do now. Oh well, too late now, fingers crossed for Dec. 14!!!!
