I am currently focused on raising my CR and Writing scores. I got an 800 in math on my first try, so now my focus is on the other two portions. I am in the 600-650 range for both, and I want to achieve as high of a score as possible. I am a junior in high school so I believe I have a good amount of time.

I've never been a big reader, but always enjoyed it. I rather play video games or talk on the computer, but I don't mind reading. However, in order to raise my scores, I have decided to become a dedicated reader and studier for the SATs. I really want to get into some of the top schools in the country, and I can't do that with my SAT scores.

I just purchased Direct Hits Volumes I & II on Amazon, and I plan to know them cover to cover as soon as possible. Is there anything else I should do for vocabulary? Do you recommend more than just Direct Hits or any other ways to study vocabulary? I certainly have the time.

Also, I want to improve my reading skills. I am looking for good books to read that are not only enjoyable, but also improve my reading skills. I am also going to read the New York Times every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I just started The Kite Runner and I am loving it. I plan to complete this book, but after that, I don't know what to read.

All recommendations are appreciated. I have heard I should read 1984, so I will probably do that as well. I want to strengthen my reading skills as much as possible because I would love to get a 750+ on the english and writing sections of the SAT.

So yeah, what books should I read? I have a lot of free time, so feel free to give me a huge list!

Also, Writing. Should I just do a lot of practice tests to strengthen my abilities? I am also going to study AcademicHacker's 80:20 Plan, and I hope to master it.

All help is appreciated so please let me know what you think. I am very committed to raising my scores so this would be a huge help to me.

Thank you.
