Hi, i have a question about the SAT II Math IIC. I was not going to take it; but after talking to my counslor, she basically told me I should, because UC schools only look at the your top 2 scores anyways, so it wouldnt hurt for me to take it. so i decided im going to take it, but i am horrible at SAT math stuff; in my classes, i can get A's fine, but on those tests, i can't. does anyone have advice? is it a "hard" test, and hows the curve? becasue im not expecting a high score, but i dont want a 400 or anything. is it possible to study for it myself and do good? so if anyone has advice about the MAth II C (for a non-math person! :) ) i would aprreciate it! thanks!

Practice. Do a lot of practice problems. Do a lot of practice tests. Get a Ti-83+ minimum (I think?), load it with a list of programs you can get comfortable with (not an excessive list), and learn to become one with the calculator. Use the Barron's book - you will freak out and that is a good thing. Review material as necessary. Get comfortable with it as soon as possible. Do as many practice tests as possible. Do every single Barron's practice test. It's good for you.

The curve is excellent as for as SAT II curves go. I skipped two on the SAT IIC in December, got an 800. I don't believe I got every single question I answered right, either. Generally you can get around 4-5 wrong and get a perfect score.

It's SO HARD. I took a practice last night and got 7 wrong. My probelm is that I skipped precalc (in BC now), so I missed out on some.

I need to work on my plane geometry and probability skills, but my algebra is top notch.

7 wrong...chill! The thursday before the test (I adhere to the wonderful policy of do nothing the day before the test...it's sooo, sooo fun), I finished 45 questions - that's five wrong automatically, and got like six or seven wrong, at least. I was getting eleven to twenty wrong/questionable on the prior tests with Barron's.

It's okay, not that bad. The missed material is going to be so much easier for you to recap as you're in BC. Practice tests do the most good. Get Barron's and take them all.
