LIT @ Sleepaway Camp after Junior Year. Good/Bad?

When I was younger, I went to a sleepaway camp in Maine. Last year, I took advanced Creative Writing at Columbia. But this year, I'm old enough to become a LIT, which basically means that I would be half-counselor and half-camper for 7 weeks. The program emphasizes on leadership skills and community.

The Problem: I want to go to either Penn of Columbia and I don't know if by going to this I'll hurt my chances at those schools (since this isn't an academic program).

I am in a science research program at my school that will help place me in a Lab for the summer (to intern). Maybe I could intern after I go to camp.... (Camp ends August 12th I think).

So... What are the plusses and minuses of going? Will colleges care that I did something like this the summer after my junior year?
