Advice for visiting BC

Hi, I am going to visit BC in early January. I am just wondering what should I go check out once I am there? Please let me know.

Thanks

bump…also curious

do the campus tour, but make sure you walk around campus after and visit upper campus (its in the same area, but the tour doesn’t take you to that point). If you can, go to a hockey game, they are great and get a lot of student support. Do you know anyone there? See if you can stay over and visit a class too. As far as Chestnut Hill, White Mountain Creamery has great ice cream.

what role does religion play in campus life? I’m not religious and am worried I’ll feel left out

Should i go to a basketball game vs VT or hockey game vs northeastern?

Hockey game. Always.

Hockey game definitely, and to the Eagle Eye Session. It’s different from most information sessions because the counselor speaks for only 20 minutes. 4-5 students will sit in front of you guys and answer questions. It’s definitely worth it. And you can go from there to a tour.

Obviously the campus tour and Eagle Eye sessions come recommended, since they’re designed to show/tell you all about BC. If you can catch a hockey game, as mentioned above, that’s also extremely recommended. I would just stroll around campus a bit on your own to see if you like the feel. Check out the students, see if you like the overall vibe you get. Maybe also walk around inside some of the halls on your own to check out the classrooms, etc. A visit to any one of the dining halls wouldn’t hurt either.

Religion plays a role in BC campus life, since it is a Catholic university, but it is definitely not oppressive. I’ve found it to be more “spiritual” than religious, but you can be involved in much more religious activities if you so choose. And honestly, you can ALMOST totally avoid all religion/spirituality if you really want. BC really just wants all of its students to understand themselves, and the roles they play, or will play, in society.

Def hockey versus Northeastern, that will be great. Get that safety school chant ready too haha.

The hockey game is at Fenway park… Do students go to games there?

They will, the atmosphere will be a little different, but because its an outdoor game vs a Boston rival there will be some who go. I think tickets are a little bit more expensive, so that might prevent some from going, but the atmosphere there will be pretty cool and the basketball season isn’t going so well…9 freshmen

Alright thanks. Tickets arent too bad ($25). Ill try check it out it sounds fun!
